Acute mountain sickness

As a qualified physician specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, I have built my career around a constant interest in movement, performance, and the adaptation of the human body to demanding environments. Very early in my training, a passion emerged: mountain medicine, at the crossroads of medicine, sport, and nature.

This specialization has given me much more than theoretical knowledge. It has allowed me a nuanced understanding of the terrain, environmental constraints, and the specific mechanisms of injuries encountered at altitude and in natural environments. It has also provided me with a technical understanding of the disciplines practiced, as well as a deeply relational approach, rooted in the lived experiences of athletes and practitioners, both amateur and professional, operating in these sometimes extreme environments.

Following on from this path, I obtained a degree in Sports Medicine, enabling me to offer comprehensive care tailored to both athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. My approach is based on the close link between performance, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and an understanding of the specific context of each activity.

My interest in altitude physiology naturally led me to delve deeper into acute mountain sickness, the subject of my master's thesis. This research allowed me to refine my understanding of the mechanisms of adaptation and failure of the human body in the face of altitude, and to integrate this knowledge into concrete and individualized clinical care. Drawn to so-called extreme sports, I find in these practices issues common to many sports: risk management, physical and mental commitment, constant adaptation, and listening to the body. This sensitivity allows me to accurately grasp the expectations, constraints, and motivation of athletes, regardless of their level or discipline. Today, I support each patient with a rigorous medical approach, informed by fieldwork, sporting experience, and a comprehensive understanding of the link between the human being, movement, and their environment.
